This year the Loopwheels team achieved new goals, worked closely together within our small team and with our network of dealers and distributors, and have learnt a lot along the way.

If you’re curious about the 2025 year here at Loopwheels, join us as we review some of our favourite moments from the year.

New year, new hue(s) – we started 2025 off with new colours!

To brighten January, we kicked off 2025 with a launch: Loopwheels with Lacquered Springs.

These new shades offer our customers more personalisation options for their Loopwheels, and we have had a really positive response to these throughout the year!

We received customer requests for lacquered springs and colour anodising to create eye-catching wheels, like this completely red pair of Loopwheels Urban, and this purple and blue pair of Loopwheels Extreme. So, we soon introduced those combo options too!

Of course, we still offer all-black wheels or black springs with metallic anodising, but adding lacquered springs to our range means you have more options to choose from when designing your dream pair of wheels.

Our wheels were put to the test…

In March, there was further independent research published about Loopwheels.

University of Pittsburgh studies on in-wheel suspenion:

In March, Gemma from the Loopwheels team travelled to Pittsburgh for the International Seating Symposium to hear firsthand about the second part of the independent study evaluating the effects of in-wheel suspension on manual wheelchair users with SCI.

The study, conducted by a research team at the University of Pittsburgh, concluded that Loopwheels’ in-wheel suspension reduced participants’ neck-pain, back-pain and fatigue at manual speeds.

The research also suggested that Loopwheels would be a very good option for those who use a power attachment. Participants reported greater participation in daily activities, which tallied closely with the anecdotal evidence we receive from our customers.

This independent research has helped to build the evidence available on the effectiveness of Loopwheels.

Testing Loopwheels and Fat Tyres

We also ran some testing of our own. This testing compared the vibration-reduction and shock-absorption of 3 wheels: Loopwheels Urban, Loopwheels Extreme and Fat Wheels (Omobic brand).

Tests comparing Loopwheels to Fat Wheels found that Loopwheels provided greater shock absorption and vibration reduction over both rough terrain and in urban settings.

All this testing highlights the importance of good evidence as well as quality engineering and manufacturing. It’s one thing to design something well, but it’s the testing pre and post product launch that confirms performance benefits, and ensures our products genuinely earn the trust placed in them.

Loopwheels for wheelchairs turned 10!

April marked the 10-year anniversary of Loopwheels for wheelchairs. This milestone represented a decade of growth, innovation and close work with our customers to become the world’s leading manufacturer of in-wheel suspension for wheelchairs.

  • Launching a technical manual to support our biggest distributors with aftersales care and servicing.

Finally…

Whilst we can pull out key milestones from throughout the year, it’s the continued support of our customers that’s important.
