Looking for a smoother, more comfortable ride but not sure whether to choose Loopwheels Urban or Loopwheels LT? Loopwheels are designed to absorb shocks and vibrations for a smoother ride, and are available in three models to suit different lifestyle and personal needs.

In this guide, we’ll compare Loopwheels Urban and Loopwheels LT to help you figure out which one is best for your needs. This guide will break down the key differences in weight, feel, performance, and more, so you can choose the perfect wheels for you.
What’s the difference between the Urban and LT models?
These models are almost identical! The key difference is the stiffness of the suspension:
- Loopwheels LT have a soft suspension designed for lighter people and those who like a soft suspension.
- Loopwheels Urban are offered with two spring rate options: a regular suspension that suits most people best, or you can choose the option with a stiffer suspension for those who like a harder ride, travel faster, or are at the heavier end of our recommended weight range.

Loopwheels Urban: The Best-Selling Model Offering Versatile Comfort

Loopwheels Urban are designed for wheelchair users who regularly navigate a mix of terrains – think city streets, park paths, and uneven surfaces. They are a great option for those who use power assist devices but still want the flexibility to push manually with ease when needed. Loopwheels Urban are built to handle the demands of everyday life – which is why they are our most popular wheel by far!
Key Features of Loopwheels Urban
- Wheel Sizes: Available in 24-inch (540mm) and 25-inch (559mm) diameters.
- Spring Rates: Two options to accommodate different user weights, speeds of travel and suspension preferences:
- Regular suspension is the most popular choice
- Stiff suspension: for people who prefer a harder ride, or travel faster with a cornering at speed (using a handbike or similar e-power add-on), or are at the heavier end of our user weight range.
- Load Capacity: Supports a combined user and chair weight of up to 120 kg.
- Weight: Approximately 1.36 kg per wheel (excluding push rim, tyre, or axle).
- Compatibility: Suitable for manual propulsion or use with power attachments like e-handbikes up to 25 km/h
- Customisation: Options for colour anodised hubs, rim hinges, and lacquered springs: black, blue, red and purple.
Loopwheels LT: A Softer Suspension Solution for Lighter Users

Loopwheels LT is the ideal choice for lighter wheelchair users between 40–60kg, or for those up to 80kg who prefer a softer, more cushioned ride. Designed with comfort in mind, Loopwheels LT offers our highest amount of suspension travel, and are perfect for manual propulsion and also work well with a power attachment – just as long as you’re within the recommended weight range. Similar to Loopwheels Urban, these wheels are for people who regularly navigate a mix of terrains such as city streets, park paths, and uneven surfaces.
Key Features of Loopwheels LT:
- Wheel Size: Available in 24-inch (540mm) diameter. Note: 25-inch (559mm) diameter can be supplied on request.
- Spring Rate: Soft suspension, for people who weigh 40-60kg (or people over 60kg who prefer a softer suspension)
- Load Capacity: Supports a combined user and chair weight of up to 120 kg.
- Wheel Weight: Approximately 1.36 kg per wheel (excluding push rim, tyre, or axle).

Making Your Choice
- User Weight:
- If you weigh between 40 kg and 60 kg, the LT model’s soft suspension is tailored for your comfort, either for manual or motorized propulsion.
- If you weigh over 80kg, LT is unlikely to be the best model for you. We would usually recommend the Urban or the Extreme model (in regular or stiff).
- For weights in between, personal preference and how often you travel at speed (using a power device) will probably be the deciding factor between the LT and the Urban Regular.
- Usage:
- If you use a power attachment regularly with higher speeds, and are definitely over 60kg, the Urban model is probably more suitable for you than the LT.
Trial scheme
In the UK, Loopwheels Ltd offers a trial program, allowing you to test the wheels on your own wheelchair. For a fee covering delivery and collection, you can experience the benefits firsthand before making a purchase decision.
If you are really unsure then a trial could be a great way to see, without commitment, which wheel is right for you.
Some distributors in other countries also offer a trial opportunity or demo.
